Partner Thai Massage Workshop

Come and explore the magic of touch.

Partner Thai Massage Workshop

Sunday, 11th September 2022, 10am - 1:30pm

Mansfield, Victoria

A 3.5hr workshop in which we dip our toes into the ancient art of thai massage. You’ll come away from the workshop with a series of basic thai massage movements that you can use again and again with friends or family.

Touch can be an innately calming and therapeutic way of connecting. The touch of another can help to ground us, steady us and relax us during challenging times. So sign up with your partner or a friend and let’s explore the power we all have to offer nurturing and grounding touch.

WHAT WE’LL COVER:

  • A short series of basic thai massage movements. There will be step-by-step guidance along the way.

  • The importance of intention, listening and awareness as the ‘giver’.

  • Principles of communication to help your receiver feel at ease. (This practice is also a beautiful way to deepen your capacity to communicate honestly via both speech and touch.)

  • Body positioning, stability and safety for the ‘giver’ (practitioner).

  • Body positioning and propping for the receiver.

  • Principles of touch - depth, body weight and ‘meeting the receiver’, listening with the body, and inviting rather than forcing.

WHO IT’S FOR:

  • Friends or couples 16 years and older.

  • There is no need for any massage experience - newcomers very welcome!

  • Anyone with a generally injury/pain-free body. (A few aches or general tightness is fine, however the workshop isn’t suitable for the resolution of injuries.)

  • Anyone with a curiosity to try their hand at Thai Massage and/or the desire to receive Thai Massage (*wink wink*… great way to upskill your partner!)

  • If you have any doubts about your suitability due to any ‘body niggles’ then contact me before registration - I’ll be glad to chat.

COST: $88 per person

WHAT IS THAI MASSAGE?

A deeply grounding, relaxing and effective form of massage. Thai yoga massage is a full-body treatment that incorporates massage and facilitated movement/stretching. Beneficial for muscular and fascial release, thai massage is brilliant for active and/or stiff bodies.

Treatments are done on the floor, fully clothed enabling the practitioner to use hands, feet, elbows and integrated, full-body movements to provide safe and nourishing release and relaxation for the receiver. Receiving a thai massage is much like ‘being’ stretched, rather than having to ‘do’ stretches. (Very relaxing and fantastic for fascial release).

Thai massage uses hands, feet and elbows to apply pressure/massage, along with facilitated stretching and work on the sen lines or meridians (energy channels) of the body. (Please note, the workshop doesn’t cover sen/meridian lines.)
